A mother hen protects her biddies by gathering them under her wings. In danger, the chicks rush to the covering of their mother's wings.

"I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust...He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under His wings shall thou trust: His Truth shall be thy shield and buckler."

WHEN I FACE SITUATIONS TOO GREAT FOR ME, I WILL TAKE REFUGE UNDER THE WINGS OF MY FATHER'S TRUTH AS FOUND IN HIS WORD.

"I, the Lord, will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you."

It gives me great comfort to realize that the Lord will instruct me and teach me in the way that I should go. He knows the future and knows my abilities. More than anyone else, He knows all about me.

Just as my parents want only the best for me, so it is with the Lord. He wants only the best for me. When I have a decision to make or if I need help, the Lord is always there for me.

I WILL LET THE LORD INSTRUCT ME AND KNOW THAT HIS EYE IS UPON ME.

"I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken."

There are times when I am uncertain and wavering in a decision. When I realize that the Lord is always before me, I know that I cannot be shaken or moved.

I will make certain that the Lord is always before me by studying His Word daily.

THE LORD IS AT MY RIGHT HAND AND I SHALL NOT BE MOVED OR SHAKEN. I WILL REMAIN STEADFAST IN MY KNOWLEDGE OF HIM.

Sleep and rest are very important for a healthy life. When my sleep is interrupted by fear or dread, I do not feel my best. But God has promised that my sleep would be sweet.

"When you lie down, you shall not be afraid; yes, you shall lie down, and your sleep shall be sweet."

MY SLEEP IS SWEET AND SOUND BECAUSE OF MY TRUST IN THE LORD.

Where is the best place to turn in time of trouble? God alone provides the refuge and strength we need.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

I WILL SEEK REFUGE AND STRENGTH FROM GOD WHEN I AM FACED WITH THE APPEARANCE OF TROUBLE.

Safety is a top priority in our daily lives. People remind me to "be safe" daily. Guess what? Only in God is safety.

"Keep me safe, O God, for IN YOU I take refuge."

I BELIEVE THAT GOD WILL KEEP ME SAFE EACH DAY. I WILL FEAR NO EVIL, FOR GOD IS WITH ME.

There is nothing I fear when I put my trust in God.

"In God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"

I FEAR NO MAN WHEN I PUT MY TRUST IN GOD.

Detour signs steer us in a safer direction. God's Word steers me in the way I should go. Sometimes the still small voice inside us tells us to turn down a different path. Listen to that Voice.

"Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not go on it; turn from it and pass on."

I WILL LET GOD LEAD ME IN THE PATHS I SHOULD GO AND AVOID THE PATHS OF THE WICKED AND EVIL MEN.

The world offers no rest or security. God alone is my Rock and my Fortress.

"My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken."

I STAND ON THE SOLID ROCK AND CANNOT BE SHAKEN.

How can I find direction in my life?

"Direct my footsteps according to your Word."

I WILL READ GOD'S WORD DAILY TO DIRECT MY FOOTSTEPS AND MY LIFE.

I want to be loved and accepted. I am thankful that my family loves me not matter what I do or say.

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever."

THANK YOU, LORD, THAT YOUR LOVE ENDURES FOREVER - THERE IS NO END TO THAT LOVE.

God knows my needs even before I do. But He wants me to share them with Him and thank Him that they are met.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petitions, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

I CANNOT WORRY BECAUSE GOD IS MY HEAVENLY FATHER AND IS LOOKING OUT FOR ME.

"Rescue me, O Lord, from evil men; protect me from men of violence, who devise evil plans in their hearts and stir up war every day."

"O Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer, who shields my head in the day of battle."

I PRAY THESE WORDS FOR ALL THE PEOPLE IN OUR MILITARY WHO ARE FIGHTING TO PROTECT OUR COUNTRY.

God is watching over me with His eye of love.

"My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me."

I WILL DWELL WITH THE LORD BECAUSE I AM FULL OF FAITH AND HIS EYE IS ON ME.

If I could ask for anything, I would ask that God be with me all the time.

"The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

I KNOW THAT GOD IS WITH ME AT ALL TIMES, EVERYWHERE. HE EVEN REJOICES OVER ME WITH SINGING.

My parents anticipated my needs before I even knew what they were when I was small. My heavenly Father knows my needs before I do.

"And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."

MY FATHER HEARS MY CALL EVEN WHILE I AM SPEAKING.

Fear is a daily companion in many people's lives.

"Fear thou not; For I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

WITH GOD'S RIGHT HAND OF RIGHTEOUSNESS HOLDING ME UP, WHAT IS THERE TO FEAR?

Are you afraid and full of fear? Write down this verse and keep it with you to read when the spirit of fear comes upon you.

"The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them."

I WILL NOT LIVE IN FEAR BECAUSE THE LORD'S ANGEL PROTECTS ME.

Many children have to sleep with a light on at night to keep them from fear of the dark.

"You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light."

I DON'T NEED A NIGHTLIGHT WHEN I HAVE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.

How pleasant it is when someone remembers your name! Everyone enjoys being recognized and called by their name.

"...I have called thee by thy name; thou are mine."

FATHER, I THANK YOU THAT YOU KNOW ME BY NAME.

Everyone, in times of trouble, reach out for something or someone. There is One whose hand is always near.

"For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee."

I AM SECURE IN THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THE LORD MY GOD IS HOLDING MY RIGHT (OR LEFT) HAND.

Pinocchio had Jiminy Cricket as his conscience. We have the Spirit of the Lord.

"And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left."

I WILL LISTEN TO MY FATHER WHO WILL ALWAYS GUIDE ME IN THE RIGHT PATH.

Insomnia? Waking up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep? Try speaking the following words and see what happens.

"For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes."

THANK YOU, LORD, FOR THE SLEEP YOU GIVE ME WHEN I TRUST YOUR WORD.

As a little child when I became frightened of the dark, I quoted this verse learned at Sunday School and received comfort.

"What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee."

WHEN I AM FRIGHTENED BY THE UNKNOWN CIRCUMSTANCES, I WILL TRUST IN THEE, O LORD.

In the midst of trouble and despair, what do you cry out?

"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him who is the health of my countenance, and my God."

I WILL CRY OUT TO GOD AND PRAISE HIM WHO RULES HEAVEN AND EARTH.

People and diplomats speak of peace constantly on the media. Where does this peace (this Shalom) come from?

"The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace."

I AM BLESSED WITH PEACE BECAUSE I AM HIS.

Abraham left his homeland to journey to a land he'd never heard of in obedience to God. God promised to make of him a great nation. He believed God and followed His Word without wavering.

"Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God."

I BELIEVE GOD WILL DO ALL HE PROMISED BECAUSE HE IS EVEN MORE THAN A FRIEND, HE IS MY FATHER.

When I travel, I want a complete plan to my destination. Many of us want God to show us the complete plan for our lives.

"I will instruct thee and teach thee IN THE WAY which thou shalt go; I will guide thee with mine eye."

FATHER, I ACCEPT THE FACT THAT YOU WILL INSTRUCT ME IN THE WAY AS I GO RATHER THAN GIVE ME THE WHOLE PLAN AT THE BEGINNING.

We need to lift up our voice and praise God for his protection and provision.

"But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning; for thou hast been my defense and my refuge in the day of my trouble. Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing; for God is my defense, and the God of my mercy."

GOD IS MY REFUGE AND MY DEFENSE IN EVERY AREA OF MY LIFE.

To preserve freedom, our government is still deploying troops to the mid-east. When we have a loved one in the armed services, isn't it comforting to know:

"And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest."

GOD IS ALWAYS NEAR AND IS ALWAYS "KEEPING".

Do you believe in guardian angels? I do because God's Word says:

"For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."

I WILL BE AWARE OF THE BEINGS SENT FROM GOD TO KEEP ME FROM HARM'S WAY.

In the course of our day, we have to deal with many situations that seem to come against us. Where do you turn your eyes at that time?

"O our God, wilt thou not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do; but our eyes are upon thee."

WHEN I KEEP MY EYES ON YOU, O GOD, MANY OF THE TROUBLES NEVER COME TO PASS.

Someone has said, "To look around is to be distressed; to look within is to be depressed; to look up is to be blessed."

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth."

I WILL KEEP MY EYES LOOKING UPWARD TO GOD.

Ever wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep? What do you think about? Do you toss and turn?

"At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You because of Your righteous ordinances."

WHEN I AWAKE IN THE NIGHT, I GIVE THANKS.

A good plan is a necessity for anything - a building, a trip, a life.

"A man's mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure."

THE LORD DIRECTS MY STEPS WHEN I HAVE PLANNED THEM.

Remember when you were frightened of the dark and your parents stayed with you until you fell asleep?

"And the Lord said, My Presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest."

HE IS WITH ME AND I REST!

A child lifts his hands for his daddy to pick him up to comfort and love him.

"Because your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you. So will I bless you while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your Name."

MY LIPS PRAISE GOD, MY FATHER, AND I LIFT MY HANDS TO HIM.

In what/whom do you put your trust for protection? Weapons, armies, bombs, guns???

"Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast thou not made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side?"

I THANK YOU, FATHER, THAT YOU HAVE PLACED A HEDGE ABOUT ME - YOUR WORD - THAT NO HARM CAN COME UPON ME.

The children of Israel were being pursued by the Philistines, a ferocious army, and they cried to God to help them. God caused a great thunder to frighten the Philistines and throw them into a panic so that the Israelites were victorious.

"Then Samuel (the prophet) took a stone, and set it...and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the Lord helped us."

I WILL RAISE MY EBENEZER TO REMIND ME OF GOD'S HELP IN TROUBLE.

We usually associate darkness with evil or bad. But the lily got its start in darkness. The bulb had to be placed in darkness for the root to grow strong and produce the flower.

"And I will give thee the treasures of darkness..."

I WILL PRAISE GOD EVEN FOR THE DARK TIMES IN MY LIFE KNOWING THEY WILL PRODUCE BEAUTY.

Did your mother teach you to say thank you when you received a gift? Did she say, "What do you say?"

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; his love endureth forever."

I WILL REMEMBER TO SAY THANK YOU TO MY HEAVENLY FATHER.

It only took a Word from the Word.

"Let all the earth fear the Lord...revere and worship Him; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded and it stood fast."

I WILL REVERE AND WORSHIP THE ONE WHO SPOKE THE WORD AND IT WAS DONE.

The whole of God's creation was for us. He had us in mind as He created the universe. What an awesome thought!

"Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to usward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered."

GOD'S THOUGHTS ARE OF ME!

Even after the body dies, the spirit of the man lives on. So where should we concentrate our growth? Body or spirit?

"If we live in the spirit, let us also walk in the spirit."

I WALK IN THE SPIRIT.

The higher you get, the more you can see. I am comforted knowing that God can see all.

"Is not God in the height of heaven?"

I AM AT PEACE KNOWING THAT GOD IS IN THE HEIGHT OF THE HEAVENWATCHING AND LOVING.

We are told that Samson's strength lay in the length of his hair. Where do you get your strength?

"It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect."

I AM STRONG AND MY WAY IS PERFECT!
