Every sport has its superstars. You can name some of them off the top of your head like Lionel Messi, Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, to name a few from different sports. A sport like baseball will also have its fair share of superstars, but they might not be known to the world outside of the United States or Japan, where baseball is a very popular sport, with a few exceptions, of course.
Here are the world’s most famous baseball players in the history of the sport.
Babe Ruth
About as iconic as baseball stars get, Babe Ruth is probably at the top of the list. Some consider that he played in a time where baseball players were not as athletic, and they are of course, right, but he also had statistics that were great, regardless of day and age.
He was a great hitter and pretty much revolutionized the scene with his arrival. He was also a great pitcher. Babe Ruth did plenty of things right.
Willie Mays
Mays was active in the 60s and 50s, an era when players were aplenty and most of them athletic and very competitive. During this time, Mays shined as a pitcher and batter, hitting home runs when you would not expect them. He won a single World Championship in a very spectacular manner, in 1954. That being said, his single win does not take away from a lifetime of greatness.
Ted Williams
Here is a name that every hitter knows. Ted Williams is what people call a pure hitter, and he has the highest hitting percentage among all players. Williams is often considered one of the best if not the best hitter in baseball history. He is also known for being a fighter pilot and a fisherman. A man of many talents, the legacy of Ted Williams is hard to beat and no upcoming or current player has yet to outshine him.
Barry Bonds
Barry Bonds played during the steroid era and is known to have been a juicer. But, prior to using steroids, he was already an amazing hitter, who had more home runs than anybody else at the time. Steroids or no steroids, Barry Bonds was a fearful hitter, one who is definitely as famous as the rest on the list.
There are many great baseball players in the world and these are but some of them. The list could go on forever, with names like Jackie Robinson, Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, and many more.
